Many forts never recovered from the Alemanni attacks. In the period
following the attacks, building changes led to a reduction of
living space.
In Miltenberg-Bürgstadt it has been proved that the civilian
population sought protection within the defensive walls. In
Stockstadt the size of the bath
complex was reduced. The last datable inscriptions from the area of
the Main Limes originated in the year 249 AD. At this time, coin
circulation also ended abruptly. In other words, no new coins were
brought to the Main Limes. In 260 AD at the latest the military
groups at the Main Limes dissolved.
