The fort was located at the crossover to the "Wet Limes",at the right bank of the Main. Today it is under the historic city centre. A stone pillar bridge, built around 145 AD, allowed troops to cross the Main.
Around 200 AD a military tile factory with supraregional importance was built. The location at the Main was advantageous for transportation to the Neuwieder Becken, the Mainz region and the Wetterau.
The Roman fort walls were reused in the Middle Ages. A tower became a jail that was used into the 19th century.
