The tourist route "Deutsche Limesstraße" (German Limes Road) was established in 1999 and leads along the 550 km Upper German-Raetian Limes. It provides access to the monuments of the section of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that was recognized in 2005. The monuments of Roman military architecture are signposted and explained on information boards over a total of 700km, from the Rhine to the Danube. The Limesstraße is cared for by the German Limes Road Association, which also represents the touristic viewpoint at the Deutsche Limeskommission.
