The museum, operated by the Heimat- und Geschichtsverein Bürgstadt, presents the local history, wine-making, and the quarrying and processing of sandstone.
In 2002 a Roman department was established in the first floor of the historic mill. Finds excavated in 1998 from the numerus fort Bürgstadt are displayed here. In earlier archaeological literature the fort was mistakenly referred to as "Miltenberg-Ost".
