Retable

The upper part of the dedication altar depicts a sacrificial bowl used to hold burnt offerings between two stone cushions that are decorated with scales and rams' heads.

The altar was located at the well that today still provides the city with drinkable water. The source of the spring supplied the cohorts' fort in Roman times with fresh water.

Location
Found near the well at the foot of the Heuneberg, to the west of Fort Miltenberg-Altstadt.
