The casting of non-ferrous heavy metal

Lead and copper alloys, like bronze, were poured into models similar to the reconstructed clay model here.

The find is one-of-a-kind - no one knows what the function of the lead mouse is. The mouse is holding a cup; several eyelets indicate that it was hung on something, perhaps a scale.

After the casting, the products were filed, polished and oiled.
