Fountain masks

Water spurts out of the mouth of a Silenus, or satyr, a mythological follower of Dionysius. The remains of a pipe still exist on the back side - running water poured into the out-stretched tongue of the mythological figure and gushed out into the basin.

As the find was located near the baths, the fountain could have been part of the thermal complex, or a well similar to that at the beneficiarius station in Obernburg.
