Steelyard scale

The well-preserved steelyard scale had several weights. The scale was hung with the goods attached to a hook. The weight of the goods could be determined by moving the slider mass along the horizontal bar scale,

The scale - already used in Egypt - did not require a complete set of unit weights, unlike the beam balance. In this way it was possible to determine a weight more quickly and also to use different units of weight.
