Bone was an easy raw material to procure. Animal bones and deer
antlers were used to make basic goods for daily life. Handles for
instruments and knives, hairpins, jars, die and other gaming pieces
were carved or turned on wheels.
Finds of unfinished goods and waste products are evidence of bone carvers' workshops in the area of the vicus.
